Delightful Saturday

Did you have a good weekend off? Well, I did!

On the Saturday I spent time with ごとうsan and みずさこsan. It was kind of unique combination. Isn’t it?

みずさこ san promised to buy sushi, so we headed to a sushi restaurant near Nagoya station. When we arrived there, it was not opened yet and we had to wait more longer. But the waiting was worth it because the reward was…

sushi ^O^/ Yeah!! I LOVE SUSHI

The taste was beyond my expectation, and I ate every sushi served. Especially the crab(?) sushi and salmon sushi were the best out of them.

After eating sushi we also went to the Starbucks that I love. I have to refrain from going there, but my steps were automatically headed to Starbucks. The Starbucks was at Valentine’s event, and there were special Frappuccinos. If you order them, you can choose what to add on the Frappuccinos among three flavors, coffee, romantic and chocolate.

I ordered romantic, ごとうsan ordered chocolate and みずさこsan ordered coffee. Unintentionally, all different valentine menus gathered!

Three different kinds of Valentine day’s Frappuccino!
Funny thing is, I also went to Starbucks on Sunday. (In Sakae)

After having coffee in the Starbucks, みずさこsan went back to home, but women’s time was not over!!

As I found out, ごとうsan was a huge shopping-lover like me. We headed to a big AEON mall. It was very kind of her to drive her car to the mall. Thank you very much ごとうsan!

AEON MALL in Nishichaya
In the middle of shopping, we had food in the McDonald’s

Oh! and we also found VERY VERY familiar clothes in a shop!

Hello えさか san..??!! and まなみ san ??!!

I was very excited to see many goods there! We walked over and over in the mall. My legs became tired a little bit, nevertheless I enjoyed a lot.

In the end, luckily both of us bought something!

ごとうsan drove me home as well as to the mall. Thanks to her, I was able to get home safely. I was so impressed by her kindness. Thank you again 🙂

I am always open-minded to the shopping. I like try a new clothes and feel happy when the unexpected style goes with me. So when you want to shopping, please call me anytime~.

A village like a fairy tale, Shirakawago

Snows always makes me excited. It fresh up my mind and makes me feel innocent 🙂

Even though Korea is very cold, I can not see much snow in Seoul. So when I got to Shirakawago I was touched by the breathtaking view of the mountain covered with snow. It was the first time I saw the snow that much!

The weather was cloudy at first but it got better and better!

There were a lot of cute wooden houses and it was like a scene in a fairy tale. The whole village was amazingly cute!

Me and my friend were so excited and we took pictures everywhere.

But the thing is, it was freezingly cold as much as it is beautiful. Our hands and feet were frozen….
We decided to go to a warm restaurant in order to continue our lives.

I ate beef curry looking outside the window

The food was not enough, so we also went to a cafe.

cozy cafe
Coffee is life-giving water to me…

After having a coffee in the cafe, we headed to observatory where we can watch the whole town on the high place. The walking street to observatory was closed in winter because of the huge amount of snow. We took the bus.

Before taking the bus, I ate beef croquette

And scenery on the observatory! The houses looked like miniature.

small and adorable village
Welcome to Shirakawago~

Even though it is super cold, Shirakawago in winter was very attractive. I would never forget the massive snows and beautiful view! And thanks to my friend who took nice pictures for me!

Village of 君の名は, Hida Furukawa

Hello~ みんな お久しぶりです。
I wasn’t in Grit! from last Tuesday to Friday, so some of you might wonder where I am.

One of my best friends in Korea came to Nagoya and we decided to travel Takayama together. I lost money, and gain weight. But I would definitely say, it was worth it.

My friend was coming to Nagoya on Monday night, so I went Nagoya station after the work in Grit!. And it was on Tuesday that we start journey to Takayama.

Schedule!

Can you guess a first thing we did in Takayama?

It was best sushi I have ever had!

飛騨牛sushi melted in my mouth and it made me happy immediately. We promised to eat 飛騨牛sushi again later, and we actually ate again ^^

Both of us are huge fan of “君の名は” and it made us to go to Hida Furukawa, the background of the movie.

When we arrived at Hida Furukawa, 飛騨牛cow welcomed us at the station!

In lunch time we headed to a restaurant where also showed up in the movie.

五平餅 in the movie
We ate 五平餅 like them
we also ordered Ramen.
Notes that a lot of visitors wrote.
I left the note on the guest book!

Next destination was Sakura物産館 , where you can experience thread craft like Mitsuha did in the movie. I didn’t make it but I bought red bracelet as souvenir in the shop. It was so expensive…

Can you see the thread hanging on the wood?
My friend asked whether it is real くちかみざけ,
and it was not..

Walking along the street, we found the railway in the movie.

Railway in the movie
Railroad with snow

It looks a little bit different because of the snow but still, it is quite similar.

And the last destination was 氣多若宮神社.

Can you see the similarity?

There were no people in the shrine. It was very quiet and peaceful. Just walking along the street was a great pleasure to me.

In the 氣多若宮神社
going back to the station.

As a huge fan of 君の名は, visiting Hida Furukawa was very meaningful and it reminded me of beautiful scene in the movie again.

I hope I can go to other background of 君の名は someday. Maybe Lake Suwa? 🙂

Inuyama castle

On 5th of January, I had a special journey with Shiho san. It was an unexpected travel to me because I just thought about eating lunch together(I am very simple person), but Shiho san wanted to show me various place in Japan. She suggested me to go to Inuyama castle together! It was very 感動.

Package tickets for Inuyama castle

On the way going to the Inuyama castle, I asked “Does Inuyama castle mean Dog-mountain castle?” and she said it is right. Why the name is Dog-mountain castle? I am curious.

Anyway, we arrived at Inuyama station! I worried about the weather because it rained a little in the morning. Luckily the weather cleared up.

Inuyama station 到着 ~
Lively street going to the castle.
There were also a lot of shops drawing my attention.

There is a common saying, “A loaf of bread is better than the song of many birds”. Yes! It means 花より団子. Therefore, Shiho san and I decided to eat before going to the castle.

Always tasty Takoyaki
It’s dango! 花より団子~
甘酒, もちぶた Dog, pork
どうぞ ^^

In front of the castle, we found おみくじ. We drew the first おみくじ in 2019!

どきどき … What’s in it?
大吉~ I was very lucky!
I also get 縁 結び おみくじ

Finally we headed to the Inuyama castle. The castle was made of wood, and it made me calm and peaceful.

After going up the steep stairs, I could see the wonderful views in a high place.

Beautiful!

Watching the beautiful scenery on the Inuyama castle, I imagined how will it be beautiful in the Spring 🙂 It puts on airs of elegance and I really liked it.

Spending time in Inuyama castle, we became hungry again. Going back to the station, we tried other foods we didn’t eat yet.

soy suace おこげ串
Tofu grilled with miso
ほうじちゃ Latte & Matcha Espresso

Inuyama castle was very special place. It was really nice to be able to go there. Thanks to Shiho san helped me going the castle! I really enjoyed a lot ^^

It was a pleasant day for the both eyes and mouth.

Hungry holidays

Happy new year to everyone!

あけましておめでとうございます~

What did you do on your holiday? For me, it was absolutely nice holidays. Especially the food made my breaks more perfect! I really ate a lot……
So, I am gonna talk about the food I have on the new year period. If you read this blog, you might become hungry 🙂

2018 12-31
On the last day of 2018, I had Nabe and 御節料理 for dinner with Yoshida san’s family.

Nabe Rie san cooked was really nice

And this is 御節料理 that Naho cooked. She also made the bird shape!

The appearance is really amazing!
Naho すごい!

After eating dinner, I slept about 2 hours before the midnight. When I woke up, the soba was waiting for me! I ate soba in a sleepy state but it was still delicious!.

Because I ate soba in a sleepy state, I couldn’t take the picture. I googled the picture..very sorry

2019 01-01

On the first day of 2019, I went Osu with ごとう san and ゆうい san. Thanks for joining with me~^^. We were full of anticipation for shopping at first. But what happened?? We were concentrating on eating!!

It is ロオパオ. Everyone ate にくflavor

After eating ロオパオ, everyone said “まだ足りない”. So we headed to Takoyaki shop! There were so many people there, so we waited for a long time.

Takoyaki and Miso Kusikatsu

And next.. I needed dessert! It looks like bread in the picture, but actually it is ice-cream.

In the round shape Monaca
there was Matcha ice-cream!

I was also attracted by the choco-banana, and…….

I ate the blue color choco-banana.

When I am eating the choco-banana, I constantly talked to myself in mind.
‘This is the last one, this is the LAST one……’. But the reality is……

Custard たいやき
Happy with たいやき and にんぎょうやき

Luckily(?), たいやき was the last food in Osu. But we don’t go to home yet! Then where?

…… Italian restaurant at Nagoya station!

I ate salmon pasta.

I felt my body become heavier T.T
I think ご とう san and ゆうい san might feel the same way.

The sad thing is, 2019-01-01 was only a beginning of overeating. Still, I was really happy with the food!

I love birds

Hello everyone! How was your weekend?
Do you remember that I have birds in my home?

I LOVE birds because I like watching them flying. I feel they are like mixture of dogs and cats. Some days they come to me “Let’s play!!”, but sometimes they ignore me even if I call them.

Can you see TWO birds? 😀

When I was heard there are Owl Cafe in Japan, I thought “I NEED TO GO THERE!” immediately. There are some parrot cafes in Korea, but not an owl because owls are protected species. If someone make Owl cafe in Korea, it’s illegal so he probably will be arrested by the police.

Anyway, my dream came true faster than I thought. When Yoshida san go to Tokyo for his business, I followed him and luckily get a chance to go to owl cafe!

Soooooo cute!!

It was not just an owl-only cafe, but also a variety of parrots. Am I in heaven..?

There were also cockatoo parrots I love! When I became independent and live by myself, I will definitely live with cockatoo.

They are cockatoo parrots. I love their yellow color.
I am seducing them to come to me.

I tried to hug them but they ran away from me and flew up to the high place. I lured them with the parrot food but sadly they never came to me.

I gave up the cockatoo and hanged out with little parrots. They flew up to my head and were drowsing on my arm.

After I spend time with the parrots I went to another room to watch owl. It was my first time I saw the owl so closely.

They are 仲良し~
Their hair was unexpectedly soft

I could touch the owls but unlike the parrots, the owls were being tied up so they couldn’t move freely. I felt sorry for their feet being tied up. I wanted to bring them to home and I thought about two big dogs in Yoshida san’s house. Can the dogs and birds live together? If not, the birds might be in danger!

I am fascinated to the birds more deeply. If you like birds, Welcome! let’s watch birds together someday!

My first day at Nagoya

Hello! こんにちは! 안녕하세요~
My name is Woori, and I am the international intern from 2018. November~ 2019. May in GRIT!

It has already been three weeks since I came to Japan. Time is FLYING! Really. I have my own blog from now on, and I am going to write about wonderful experience until I am here.

And today, I will talk about the day I came to Nagoya on November 24. When I got to the airport, it had been raining and very dark in Korea.

나고야 첫날 영상

The rain made me very very.. NOT sad! not at all. I was just so excited about what will happen? what kind of people I will meet? and most important, what will I eat??:D

Well, my friend told me this later, that the rain was changed to snow! It was first snow this year in Seoul when I arrived in Japan.

I wish I can see snow in Nagoya someday.

When it was snowing heavily in Korea, I was meeting new friends in warm Nagoya. Before I come to Japan I was heard from my TN manager, Aoi that four people will go to the airport. But… Surprise, surprise!
Seven AIESEC members came to the airport to see me.

very nice to meet you all guys!

Including me, about eight people were there. Yeah! We were a large group, so we couldn’t even sit all together in the lunch time. I was so welcomed by the AIESEC members, thanks to all!

After eating lunch with AIESEC members, I went to Nagoya station where I met Rie san for the first time. She took me to where the GRIT! members existed.

It was a gym, not the office!

As I found out, they were in the middle of sport competition. When I arrived there, they started to run very enthusiastically, and enthusiastically fell down… Are you okay??

After dinner, I visited the GRIT! office, where I will work for next 6 months. When I arrived there I was stunned by the big sound, a bark sound! There were three big dogs, Ume, Niko and Huku. I knew there are dogs in advance but honestly, I was a little bit scared at first because they are bigger than I thought and also imagined what if they bite me?

But as time passes by I am fully adjust to these dogs, and now they are in charge of my healing time. These lovely dogs also remind me of parrots in my home in Korea.

He is very lovely parrot!

After visiting GRIT! office, I cleaned my luggage and fell asleep like a baby. It was really long day and extremely excited. I wish I can make great memories with nice people!
Thanks to everyone welcomed me warmly.
